WordPress Membership Plugins (List, Comparison, & Reviews)

by Wilson Mattos on January 11, 2010

WordPress is a great platform not only for blogs, but also for setting up membership sites to deliver premium content.

There are a lot of WordPress membership plugins available these days and the options can be confusing. I have had a chance to play with a few of them and will share what I have learned in this post. I will update this post once in a while when updates become available or as I learn something new. If you would like to stay updated, please bookmark this URL and check back once in a while.

Pre-Requisites: None

Wishlist Member is probably the most popular membership plugin.  It is probably one of the most complete plugins, and although some features available in the other plugins below are not found in Wishlist Member, this plugin will likely fulfill most people’s requirements.  It has a ton of cool features and is offered as either a single or multi-license.

RAP Press

Pre-Requisites: (Rapid Action Profits + RAP PayPal Addon) or (Rapid Action Profits Membership Plus Bundle)

RAP Press is the “new kid on the block” but is developed by Bill Ortell and Erin (aka netkickstart). If you use Rapid Action Profits or are looking into using it, I strongly recommend you take a look at RAP Press. The content drip features are just awesome, and because it integrates with RAP Purchases. RAP Press is offered as a single or multi-site license.

Digital Access Pass

Pre-Requisites: None Other than WordPress

Digital Access Pass is also a very cool plugin.  I have not yet spent a whole lot of time with it, so I will have to do some more playing to write a complete review and share my experience, but it had a ton of features and I like the content drip functionality. RAP Press is offered as a single or multi-site license.  Additionally, the developer also offers a free installation service to get you going quickly and with minimal effort.

Other Plugins

There are a lot of other plugins out there for creating and managing WordPress-based membership sites.  Unfortunately, I don’t have time to test them all.  If you are a plugin developer and you would like me to try out and review your plugin, Contact Me Via Twitter and let me know. If you use another plugin yourself, leave me a comment on this post and tell me what it is and why I should check it out.  What’s great about it?

Note: Links on this post to the respective plugins are affiliate links and if you purchase via those links I will may earn a commission.  This fact does not mean I am going to recommend crappy products and in no way will you be paying anything extra by using these links.

How To Improve Your Landing Page Quality Score

March 16, 2009

When creating a Pay-Per-Click (PPC) campaign to test a new product or niche, you don’t want to spend a lot of time creating different landing pages for each Ad Group and/or keyword you want to target.  However, you need to make sure that your page is relevant to the user that clicks on your ad, [...]
